update: 29.08.07
as friends who have regularly (that will be close to none, i gather) logged in to this blog knows, i have not updated from the longest time. partly because of the forgotten password problem. partly because of the dramatic turn that this year has brought.
2006 ended with a very depressing note for me as i lost one of my nearest and closest friend. 2007 was the beginning of another test of our faith and strength.
as some of you may know, william's mother was diagnosed with lung cancer at the beginning of the year. a news that none of us was prepared for. a news that turned the world topsy turvy for all concerned. it was tough times, those initial days on learning the news. we all seeked comfort in her mother's strength. she faced the illness and the ensuing tests and examinations with such courage and tenacity that we can only follow suit.
it is never easy. adversities like this mean sacrifices have to be made, by all concerned. everybody learned to give up a little piece of their comfort, their routine in exchange for battling the illness together with her. i will like to think that this little test has given us a chance to be closer, to value each other more. it gave us a second chance to spend more time with her as she is seeking treatment here, for me to know my mother-in-law better and to take care of her, something that i never had a chance to do despite being married for more than 10 years. this has also shown me the many faces of people i thought i knew. people whom you have thought to be distant flock to be by your side, giving encouragements to support you when you are tired. some whom you have always regarded as friends are nowhere to be seen. perhaps, in true adversity only will you learn who are your friends.
many blessings come from this misfortune, if you only care to look. always look on the positive side of things and everything will be alright.
she is now in the second stage of chemotheraphy in singapore and is responding well to treatments.

In the beginning ........
Subject: In the beginning...........
In the beginning God covered the earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, with green, yellow and red vegetables of all kinds so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
Then using God's bountiful gifts, Satan created Dairy Ice Cream and Magnums. And Satan said "You want hot fudge with that? And Man said "Yes!"And Woman said "I'll have one too with chocolate chips". And lo they gained 10 pounds.
And God created the healthy yoghurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 12 to size 14.
So God said "Try my fresh green salad". And Satan presented Blue Cheese dressing and garlic croutons on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.
God then said "I have sent you healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them".
And Satan brought forth deep fried coconut king prawns, butter-dipped lobster chunks and chicken fried steak, so big it needed its own platter. And Man's cholesterol went through the roof.
Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with potassium and good nutrition. Then Satan peeled off the healthy skin and sliced the starchy centre into chips and deep fried them in animal fats adding copious quantities of salt. And Man put on more pounds.
God then brought forth running shoes so that his Children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan came forth with a cable TV with remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering light and started wearing stretch jogging suits.
Then God gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonalds and the 99p double cheeseburger. Then Satan said "You want fries with that?" and Man replied "Yes, And super size 'em". And Satan said "It is good." And Man and Woman went into cardiac arrest.
God sighed ......... And created quadruple by-pass surgery. And then ............ Satan chuckled and created the National Health Service.
THE FINAL WORD ON NUTRITION After an exhaustive review of the research literature, here's the final word on nutrition and health.:
1. Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
2. Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
3. Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
4. Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
5. Germans drink beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you. Moral: Fill your mouth and shut up.

Whist in a little café in Guernsey having Lemon Crepes and a Vanilla Mikeshake I spotted this framed saying on its wall. If you are easily offended or very politically correct, dislike stereotyping – don’t read on!
Heaven and Hell
Heaven is a place where the Police are British, the Cooks French, the Mechanics German, the Lovers Italian and it’s all organised by the Swiss.
Hell is where the Chefs are British, the Mechanics French, the Lovers Swiss, the Police German and it‘s all organised by the Italians.

Greetings Nancy and Sundry,
Just dropped in to say a quick hello. Hope you and your family (including William in the general family description!) are all well and happy. Been a bit busy, it would seem to be the case with you all if you have not been in for the past six months!
If anyone has kept up with the world news - major flooding problems in the uk recently which is drying out now. Not so much where I am in Surrey but certainly a lot of rain down pour and slight flooding. Foot and mouth disease been reported again - in Surrey! I better keep away from cows then (which is something I try to avoid in the first place anyway human or otherwise - ok that's just me being cheeky)
I have started a new job recently so that has kept me on the go getting to grips with new people, place, systems but I am getting the main layout more or less sorted - hence my dropping into this blog!
Anyway must go, have a fantastic day everyone.
